Our founder is Deepa Somasunderam. She qualified as a barrister and practiced international law in the Hague and London for a number of years before launching The Beautiful Societies.
Her goal is to bring you well-researched, high-quality, expert-driven content to answer all your beauty, wellness and lifestyle questions. She grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka and lives in London.

We don’t want to waste your time so we will always get straight to the point. Right now, we are not selling anything on our website (no affiliate links either) and we will let you know if that changes. If we are ever publishing sponsored content, we will tell you. If we are paying someone for information, we will tell you that as well.

We promise to bring you diverse content. And yes that means diverse and inclusive imagery. But it also means featuring POC experts, POC owned brands and interviews with POC breaking into different industries. Importantly, we want to reflect all aspects of who you are: nationality, gender, caste, tribe, religion, disabilities and this is central to our content.
